Obama Speech, Ad: $1000 Energy Rebate Per Family (funded by more taxes of course)
"I believe we should immediately give every working family in America a $1,000 energy rebate, and we should pay for it with part of the record profits that the oil companies are making right now." -Barack Obama, 8-4-08 Speech Text

In a speech this morning in Michigan, Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama presented his idea of a one thousand dollar per family energy rebate.
So now Obama wants to give us $1000.00 to offset the high cost of energy. Is this the same guy who ridiculed President Bush’s stimulus rebate in the spring and in fact still refuses to acknowledge any positive effect that it might have had on the American People?
Is this the Obama who laughed at John McCain when McCain proposed a temporary suspension of the federal gasoline tax?
Now, with many polls showing the nine point lead Obama had two weeks ago all but gone, Obama wants to send us all a grand! I find that not only hysterical but hypocritical. Obama ridiculed both Bush and McCain for their plans calling them only short term help.
Worst of all, Obama offers nothing to go with this rebate that will bring down the price of oil. No new drilling; no offshore, no ANWR, no new refineries and absolutely nothing to reduce prices.
Obama decries the American use of oil. I am so tired of that attitude. Obama says that America with only 3% of the world’s population uses 26% of the world’s energy.
Much of that energy isn’t used in our SUVs or air conditioners. Our measly 3% of the population uses much of that energy to feed much of the world’s hungry and give clothes to the world’s poor. We provide clean water and medical attention to those who would not otherwise have it.
Of all the global money spent on treating and preventing AIDS throughout the world; our tiny 3% provides over half.
We fund the UN despite the fact that it has become anti-American.
Americans are the first to respond to any crisis, anywhere in the world with aid and supplies.
Sure we use energy. We couldn’t do all of the great things this country does without using energy. We will need even more energy in the future to continue to be the great force for good in the world.
Obama Is Wrong On Energy
Obama has repeatedly opposed any new efforts to lessen our dependence on foreign oil, and to lower gas prices. He refuses to allow new drilling which would lower speculative oil prices immediately. Gas prices are hurting our economy and making foreign nations like Iran, Russia, and Venezuela rich.
Barack Obama is:
opposed to any new offshore (50+ miles off the coast) exploration or drilling (where 19 billion barrels of oil exist, about 30 years' worth of imports from Saudi Arabia)
opposed to drilling in ANWR (10+ billion barrels of oil), no matter how clean or new tech it is
opposed to any new "clean coal" technologies promising to fulfill American energy needs. America is considered the "Saudi Arabia of Coal" estimated to have 27% of the world's coal reserves
opposed to any new nuclear power plants in America, even though France is demonstrating it can be done cleanly and cheaply
opposed to a gas tax holiday to lower gas prices
opposed to incentivizing American companies to develop more efficient electric vehicles
